The Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Tanimu Turaki, which challenged the decision to nullify their leadership congress held in Ibadan.
While delivering the ruling, Justice Stephen Adah stated that the congress conducted on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan was in violation of an order issued by the Federal High Court. The earlier ruling, delivered by Justice James Omotosho, had restrained the faction from holding the party’s national convention.

The Supreme Court also criticized the Turaki faction for approaching a court that lacked jurisdiction instead of taking the matter to the Court of Appeal.

Consequently, the apex court upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal, which declared the PDP congress in Oyo State invalid.
Three out of the five justices agreed with the judgment.
